The name Wiikirri is an Australian Aboriginal word from the language of the Ngiyampaa people, meaning to sit, to stay and to live.
Wiikirri is located in a small patch of Australian bush in the tiny Queensland Country town of Blackbutt. The town’s name, Blackbutt, is named for the local species of Eucalyptus pilularis, commonly known as Blackbutt. Blackbutt and its neighbouring town of Benarkin have historically been timber towns. Located in amongst state forests and with an elevation of 500 metres, every season from Summer (milder than the coast and cities) to Autumn (in the hills the leaves turn to a blaze of red and yellow) to Winter (crisp, frosty mornings) to Spring (fresh new growth and an abundance of flowering plants), presents its unique beauty and experience.
Whatever your reason is to visit this part of South East Queensland we invite you to come, stay and sit awhile in the serenity and luxury that is Wiikirri Retreat.
