About Us
Julie and Terry moved from Brisbane in 2005 to the lovely South Burnett as Terry accepted a new job as an Engineer. Whilst the move was for Terry’s career in the first instance, it provided the opportunity for Julie to fulfil her long held dream to build something special – a retreat for stressed out city folk. From the moment they walked onto the bare block of land with Taromeo Creek flowing through it, they knew that this was the place to build that retreat and home. Julie recalls, “As we walked through the block and down to the creek we could feel this tangible sense of peace and calm – a truly beautiful place.”
Julie’s professional life was as a wholistic Dietitian and clinical Nutritionist working in her own practice. Although assisting many clients over the decades to restore their health through nutritional management, it was common to find that many of her clients’ health issues were influenced by stress. Health, as Julie always quoted, is not simply about the absence of disease but about achieving a sense of well-being between the body, mind and spirit. Hospitality is Julie’s middle name. You can also be assured that with her professional background the food sourced is good for you – often from their own vegetable garden, with fresh eggs from the chooks and local gourmet delights plus an abundance of other organic products.
Terry is the Engineer and, as he claims, is “just the lackey out the back”. Although Terry continues to keep his hand in with his Engineering consulting, he loves nothing better than getting out on the ride-on mower to contemplate work solutions or solve the problems of the world. The garden is very much a joint effort. However, Julie is the designer and creator and Terry is very much the “can you dig that hole for me” man.
Julie and Terry continue to delight in sharing the little patch of Australian bush and Wiikirri Retreat with all who visit.
